NFPC Interaction with CPS

The Controller, Personal Services, VAdm Praveen Nair, AVSM, NM interacted with NFPC members on 13 Jun at RSAMI, Pune over lunch. The Admiral was accompanied by his wife Mrs Deepa Nair.

Prior to reaching RSAMI, he visited 08 Phayre Road to see the proposed Indian Naval Maritime museum site. The President NFPC, VAdm Jaywant Korde briefed him about the progress till to date. The Admiral evinced keen interest in the Museum and assured the gathering that all support will be given to NFPC for an expeditious fructification of the IN museum project.

Thereafter the Admiral proceeded to RSAMI to interact with the NFPC Veterans. He was introduced to the NFPC Management Committee and Area Coordinators before interacting with other veterans.

The Secretary RSAMI introduced the Admiral to the gathering, highlighting some achievements of his illustrious career, which included being the commissioning Commanding Officer of the missile destroyer, INS Chennai, before going on to command the aircraft carrier, INS Vikramaditya, Asst Chief of Naval Staff (Policy and Plans) at NHQ, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet and Commandant of the Indian Naval Academy at Ezhimala, Kerala. The CPS and Mrs Nair were then felicitated with a bouquet being presented by Mrs Kanwal Bedi to Mrs Deepa Nair, following which VAdm JS Bedi presented CPS the NFPC memento. Subsequently, two NFPC Octogenarians RAdm AP Singh and Cmde Kuldeep Singh were also felicitated by the CPS in true Puneri style by presenting them a Shawl and Pheta by CPS and President NFPC. The Octogenarian crest was given by CPS and the letter of Cmde NV was handed over by President NFPC. Mrs AP Singh was presented a bouquet by Mrs Aruna Korde. Cmde Ajay Chitnis, President Indian Maritime Foundation also presented an IMF tie to CPS.

VAdm Praveen Nair thereafter addressed the gathering and gave an update on the recent developments in the Indian Navy including the commissioning of new ships as well as the Agniveer scheme. He also expressed being impressed by the progress made by NFPC towards the IN Maritime Museum project, stating it was the only museum project that has been totally initiated by the veteran community. He assured the gathering that efforts will be made to expedite the necessary clearances at the Ministry level. He presented an NHQ crest and a cheque to President NFPC. Admiral Nair and his wife interacted with all Veterans and spouses thereafter.

An exotic Indian Lunch was served to the attendees and was appreciated by all.
