1. With profound grief and sorrow we regret to inform you all regarding the sad and untimely demise of Cdr. Koyilath Karamchand Menon (40447 Z) who left for heavenly abode at the Ruby Hall Hospital, Wanworie on 20th June 2026. He was ailing for a short while and was hospitalized. He is survived by his wife, daughter and her family.
2. Cdr. K K C Menon was from the 39th course, NDA and opted for the Engineering Branch. Commissioned in July 1972, he served on INS Delhi (1977-79) as Senior Watch Keeper and later as Engineer Officer of diving support vessel INS Nistar. He has had long innings in repair organizations i.e. Naval Dockyard, Mumbai serving on two occasions. During the period 1984-89 he was at the IC Engine shop at ND(B) and made immense contribution towards setting up of the Delta Engine workshop facility for the new induction ships. He also served at Naval Ship Repair Yard NSRY, Kochi from 1993-1998. Prior to his retirement in February 2004, he served again at ND(B). He settled at Pune after retirement.
3. After retiring from the Indian Navy, Cdr Menon joined the Merchant Navy and served as Chief Engineer on many SCI and ONGC Offshore Support vessels till 2015. On quitting the Merchant Navy, he worked as a Director with Stag Marine, Mumbai, providing logistic support to merchant vessels.
4. KKC, as he was popularly known, as was a friendly, fun loving, easy going and jovial person who will be missed by people who dearly know him.
5. On behalf of the President and all members of NFPC, we extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his wife (NOK) Mrs Hira Menon, his daughter Mrs Shradha Balani and the bereaved family.
6. We pray that the Almighty grants strength and fortitude to the family to bear this irreparable loss and that the departed soul rests in eternal peace.
7. Funeral and last rites were conducted on 20th June at the Wanwadi Crematorium. Family members and few friends well known to the family attended the Veteran’s final farewell. Wreaths were laid on behalf of Members of NFPC, C-inC- West and for CNS by President NFPC.
