With profound grief and heavy heart, regret to inform sad demise of Cmde AKS Chitre (00330-Z), 89 yrs, on 19 Sep, 1:25 AM at Morristown, New Jersey, USA, where they had been with their daughter for the past few years, leaving behind many to mourn his transit to higher realm.
The Officer was from the 11th NDA course and served onboard IN ships Gomti and Kirpan. He commanded several IN ships/establishments including Sharda, Anjadeep, Kakinada, Brahmaputra and Angre. Prior to hanging up his boots, he commanded INS Venduruthy and CABS.
On behalf of President and all the members of NFPC we offer our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to his wife Mrs Suhasini Chitre, Son Ashish & Daughter Monica and the grieving family members. We pray that they bear the irreplaceable loss with courage and fortitude.
Funeral & Last Rites were held on September 21, 2026 at Ruby Memorial Funeral Home, New Jersey.
