Members of the Navy Foundation Pune Chapter (NFPC) celebrated Navy Day on 04th December 2023 by hoisting the National flag on the revered mast at Sinhgad Fort, Pune. More than 80 Naval Veterans, including their family members, climbed up to the Sinhgad Fort for the Flag hoisting. This mast is said to be located at the very place where Veer Suryaji Malsure, brother of Veer Tanaji Malsure, hoisted the Flag to signal the conquest of Kondhana Fort as it was known then.

VAdm Jaywant Korde PVSM AVSM VSM IN (Retd), President, NFPC welcomed VAdm Ajay Kochhar AVSM NM, Commandant NDA, the Chief Guest, who hoisted the National flag jointly with the oldest Veer Nari, Smt Sushama Modak and oldest veteran Cdr Rajeev Vaidya.

Commandant NDA highlighted the importance of Navy Day and complimented NFPC for this initiative. He thanked all those present for participating in such large numbers and acknowledged the contributions of veterans in building the Indian Navy. Thereafter, veterans and families enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast and paid their respects to Veer Tanaji Malsure at the Smarak in his honour, before departing the Sinhgad Fort.
