With profound grief & sorrow, we convey the sad and untimely demise of Cdr DS Bawa (40740-R)(Retd) in Vancouver, Canada on 13th Mar 26.

Cdr Bawa joined the Indian Navy in Jan 1970 as a Shipwright Artificer. After completing his engineering degree through AMIE while in service, he was commissioned on 31 Jul 78 as a Direct Entry Officer. During his illustrious career in Navy, he served on board Anjadip, Rajput and CG Ship Vikram. He also underwent PG in erstwhile USSR.

His ashore appointments included NHQ /DSP and Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam. After taking pre- mature retirement in 1994, he was briefly absorbed in GRSE and eventually shifted to Canada and worked for over 2 decades with Ballard Power Systems in senior positions.

He is survived by wife & 2 sons, all of whom are settled in Canada.
