With profound grief and sorrow, we regret to inform that Cdr Kattoju Bhaskerrao (Retd) 01239R passed way at 0215h on 04 Jul 24 at Command Hospital Pune.

He was born on 09 May 1950 to Maj Kattoju Paidilingam (AMC) and Savitri Devi. On graduating from Bishops School Pune, he joined the 36th Course of the National Defence Academy, D Sqn. He passed out as CSM with the 37th Course having excelled in boxing, horse riding and PT.

Post ab initio training he served on a number of ships including Nistar (Old), Anjadip (Old), Beas (Old) for duties and as EXO onboard Nirghat, Ratnagiri and Brahmaputra (Old). This also included service afloat during the 1971 war.

His ashore tenures included Div Officer and ADC to Comdt at NDA Khadakwasla, duties at NOIC (MAH), HQSNC, HQWNC, Dte of Resettlement and Zonal Recruitment, Pune and NAU Lonavala. He also served as Oi/C Seamanship Training School and CO of NCC(1) Mumbai.

Post retirement, he settled at Khese Park, Pune.

Cdr Bhaskerrao was an extremely lively, cheerful and kind hearted soul who believed in living life to the fullest. He was a very active member of NFPC and also served as Secretary NFPC in years 2005-2006. He was a guiding light of NFPC. His humble and cheerful disposition endeared him to all of us at NFPC.

He is survived by his wife, Viola and two sons, Capt Vikram Kattoju and Capt Rohit Kattoju, both currently serving in the Indian Navy.

We pray Almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed noble soul of Late Commander K Bhaskerrao at his lotus feet.
