1. With profound grief and sorrow we regret to inform you all regarding the sad and untimely demise of Cdr Purna Bahadur Dass NM (G) (89520 B) who left for heavenly abode at Command Hospital today afternoon after a valiant battle with Cancer detected at a late stage. He is survived by his two daughters, Priya and Malavika, his wife Mrs Madhu Dass having predeceased him 2 years ago.
2. Cdr Purna Dass was commissioned on 01 Oct 1994 and had settled at Pune after a glorious service career as a Logistician. He has held a large number of appointments at various Commands including ANC, the triservices Command. He served as Oi/c Catering School at INS Hamla where he had made many improvements in the training of Cooks and Stewards. He also excelled in his appointment at ANC where he handled the Officers Mess with his team comprising of Logisticians from all the three Services. He also served as Mess Secretary WNC Officers Mess and brought in a lot of positive changes.
3. Cdr Dass is a gallantry award winner, who was part of the Antarctica expedition in the early part of his Service career. His final appointment was at INS Shivaji from where he superannuated after more than 34 years of illustrious service.
4. A cheerful Veteran who always had a smile on his face that spread positive vibes around, he also had a melodious voice that was showcased during the 2nd Musical Evening of NFPC held at NDA on 13 Sep 25 where he enthralled the audience with his repertoire of songs. He had been commended on numerous occasion both at ENC and WNC and his contribution to Logistics fraternity will always be remembered.
5. On behalf of the President and all the members of NFPC, we extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his daughters Priya and Malavika and the bereaved family.
6. We pray that the Almighty grants strength and fortitude to the family especially his 2 daughters to bear this irreparable loss and that his departed soul rests in eternal peace.
7. As a Gallantry Award winner, Cdr Dass was accorded a Ceremonial funeral with Guard on 21 Aug at 3 pm at Muktidham Crematorium Golibar Maidan.
