1. With profound grief and sorrow, we deeply regret to inform the passing away of Commodore HL Sachar (00325-N) at 1124h at Kailash Hospital, Sector – 27, Noida on Thursday, 16th July 2026 due to Acute Pulmonary Disorder and Cardiac Arrest. He was 91 years of age.
2. Commodore HL Sachar (00325-N), ex-8th JSW Course was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on 1st January 1958. Subsequently, he specialised as a Gunnery & Missile Warfare Officer. He was deputed to the UK for training for one year from 1968. On completion of 31 years of meritorious service, he retired on 31st January 1989.
3. During his illustrious career, he held several important Afloat and Ashore appointments as follows: –
(a)Afloat Appointments:-
(i) Commanding Officer, INS Cuddalore.
(ii) Commanding Officer, INS Nashak.
(iii) Executive Officer, INS Amba.
(iv) Chief Staff Officer to K-25.
(v) Commanding Officer, INS Nilgiri.
(b) Ashore Appointments:-
(i) Commanding Officer, INS Mandovi.
(ii) President, 12, Services Selection Board, Bangalore.
(iii) Commanding Officer, INS Kunjali.
(iv) Commanding Officer, INS Agnibahu & Captain (K-25).
(v) Director, Naval Training, NHQ.
(vi) Director, Personnel, Indian Coast Guard Headquarters.
4. Funeral and Last Rites of Late Commodore HL Sachar were performed on 17th July 2026 at Antim Niwas, Sector – 94, NOIDA.
5. We pray to Almighty God to grant eternal Peace to the noble soul of Late Commodore HL Sachar at his final resting place.
6. We convey our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to all members of the grieving Family of Late Commodore HL Sachar and pray to Almighty God to grant them peace, solace, comfort, strength, courage, fortitude and forbearance to bear pain of irreplaceable loss.
