It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Cmde AK Mehta. A stalwart of the Sea Harrier squadrons, he was instrumental in establishing the training squadron from the ground up, skillfully mobilizing resources across departments at Hansa. His distinguished appointments included INAS 300, INAS 551 “B”, INS Sujatha, NATS, INS Tir, NAY(K), Project Ashok, HQNA, MO (Goa), and IHQ MoD(N), from where he retired as PDALS.
Cmde Mehta was renowned for his meticulous staff work, tireless dedication, and unwavering commitment. Those who served in Goa and within the Sea Harrier fraternity remember him with great respect. He also led the team to the UK to establish the Pegasus engine ROH facilities at Yard, a testament to his technical expertise.
Cmde Mehta was admitted to Tata Memorial hospital, New Chandigarh at the time of his passing. He was a resident of Jalvayu Tower flat in Chandigarh.
