1. With profound grief and sorrow we regret to inform you all regarding the sad and untimely demise of Cdr Manikrao Ramachandrarao Bhonsale (01156 A) who left for heavenly abode at Command Hospital on 24 August following a Cardiac arrest. He is survived by his daughter Itisha, who resides at Boston US, his wife having predeceased him.
2. Cdr MR Bhonsale was commissioned on 09 Nov 1970 and had settled at Karve Nagar Pune post his retirement.
3. He had served onboard INS Guldar and Kakinada before switching over to Provost branch. He also served at Dte of Works at NHQ and also at INS Circars at Visakhapatnam and finally at NCC HQ Pune from where he retired.
4. Cdr MR Bhonsale was an outstanding sportsman who represented school in football, hockey, athletics. A handsome and colorful personality who with his wife were adjudged the best dancing couple by HH Rajmata Madhviraje Scindia at the centenary function in 1997.
5. On behalf of the President and all the members of NFPC, we extend our deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to his daughter and the bereaved family.
6. We pray that the Almighty grants strength and fortitude to the family to bear this irreparable loss and that his departed soul rests in eternal peace.
7. Funeral and Last rites were conducted at 11 AM on 27 Aug at Salunkhe Vihar Crematorium.
