1. With profound grief and sorrow we deeply regret to inform passing away of Commander Bhaskar Sengupta (41368-T) at Apollo Multispecialty Hospital, Kolkata at 2348 hrs on 31 August 2026.
2. Commander Bhaskar Sengupta ( Date of Birth-09 Jun 1965) joined the Engineering Branch of Indian Navy in Naval Architecture cadre specialisation on 16th August 1988 as Direct Entry Officer. He did his BTech in Naval Architecture from IIT Kharagpur. He did his MBA from FMS Delhi. On completion of his post graduation from IIT Delhi, he joined Naval Dockyard Visakhapatnam as Assistant Manager in Drydocks department. Subsequently, he proceeded to serve onboard FDN in Port Blair. He had the rare opportunity to sail onboard FDN from Port Blair to Visakhapatnam for its maiden refit at HSL. Cdr Bhaskar Sengupta was transferred from FDN to Design directorate in Delhi. He was a part of the design team for ASW corvettes which were subsequently built by GRSE. Cdr. Bhaskar Sengupta left Navy on 16 Jan 2010 and joined GRSE as Assistant Manager. He retired from GRSE in 2025 as Chief General Manager. He also served as the Secretary Institute of Naval Architects, Kolkata Chapter. A thorough shipbuilding professional and an ardent golf lover, Cdr Sengupta will always be remembered for his smiling face and never say die attitude.
3. Funeral and Last Rites of Late Commander Bhaskar Sengupta were held on 1st September 2026 at Keoratala Cremation Ground, Kolkata.
4. We pray to Almighty God to grant eternal Peace to the noble soul of Late Commander Bhaskar Sengupta at his final resting place.
5. We convey our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to all members of the grieving Family of Late Commander Bhaskar Sengupta and pray to Almighty God to grant them peace, solace, comfort, strength, courage, fortitude and forbearance to bear pain of irreplaceable loss.
