Capt Sanjiv Kapur

1.  With profound grief and sorrow, we regret to inform passing away of Captain Sanjiv Kapur (70231-R) at 0400 h on Sunday, 27 Apr 2025 due to brain haemorrhage at Command Hospital, Pune. He was 68 years of age.

2.  Captain Sanjiv Kapur (70231-R), a direct entry Naval Academy cadet was commissioned into the Education Branch of the Indian Navy in Jan 1981. He specialised in Advanced Meteorology from IMD Pune, followed by appointments at INS Hansa, SNOM and erstwhile Kunjali II (now INS Shikra).

3. On completion of 33 years of meritorious service, he retired on 27th Apr 2014 as CO of 2 Raj Naval NCC unit at Ajmer, Rajasthan. He was very jovial, always cheerful, healthy and physically active veteran officer who loved playing squash, riding his bike, daily walks and yoga.

4.  During his illustrious career spanning over 33 years, he held several important Afloat and Ashore appointments which were as follows: –

(a) Cdr (MET) onboard INS Vikrant, Mumbai

(b) OIC SNOM, Kochi

(c) Senior Met officer at NAS Kunjali II, Mumbai

(d) Senior Education officer at INS Valsura, Jamnagar

(e) Senior Education officer at INS Shivaji, Lonavala

(f) Senior Education officer at INHS Asvini, Mumbai

(g) Senior Education officer at INS Circars, Visakhapatnam.

5.  Funeral and Last Rites of Late Captain Sanjiv Kapur(70231-R) were  performed at 1530 hrs on Sunday, 27th Apr 2025 at Mukti Dham, Pune cantt.

5.  On behalf of President and all members of NFPC , we convey our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to all members of the grieving Family and pray to Almighty God to grant them peace, solace, comfort, strength, courage and fortitude to bear the pain of the irreplaceable loss.
