1. With profound grief and sorrow, we deeply regret to inform passing away of Commodore AS Rawat (00473-Z) after a valiant battle with Colon Cancer since 30th October 2024, he succumbed to Multi Organ Failure at his residence; M-137, Jalvayu Vihar, Sector – 25, NOIDA. He was 84 years of age.
2. Commodore AS Rawat (00473-Z) Ex- Direct Entry, Delta Batch was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on 29th August 1960. On completion of initial Sub Lieutenant Courses at INS Venduruthy, he volunteered to join Naval Aviation Branch and was deputed Air Force Flying College, Jodhpur for further training as Helicopter Pilot. On completion of 32 years of meritorious service, he retired on 31st October 1992.
3. During his illustrious career with Indian Navy, he held several important Aviation, Afloat and Ashore appointments including Sea Command of INS Cannanore & Senior Officer 18th MCMS, INS Brahmaputra and INS Shakti. He also commanded IN Air Sqns 330, 336, 561 as well as INS Garuda
4. Funeral and Last Rites of Late Commodore AS Rawat were performed on Friday, 10th January 2025 including a short Church Service after which he was buried at Noida Christian Cemetery.
5. We pray to Almighty God to grant eternal Peace to the noble soul of Late Commodore AS Rawat at his Heavenly Abode.
