Andharban Trek by NFPC

The NFPC organised the Andharban Monsoon Trek – one of the most exhilarating treks around Pune – exclusively for the members of NFPC, through a professional agency Adventure Pulse on 10 July 2024. It was open to all families and friends of NFPC Members. Some 25 participants from NFPC participated in the trek across the Sahyadri ranges at Andharban. The trek passed through dense overgrowth, with beautiful views of the Devkund waterfall, and the Tamhini Ghat along the way. Scattered throughout with numerous small streams and waterfalls, it was a descending trek beginning at an elevation of 2,160 feet in the Sahyadri mountains and descending down into the valley, to reach the backwaters of the Bhira Dam.

The journey began with two Tempo travellers picking up participants from Corinthians Club and RSI respectively starting at the early hour of 0500 hrs. The team took a breakfast break enroute after crossing Paud and reached the trekking point by 0815 hrs. The trek commenced at 0830 hrs following the jungle trail. The team traversed through forest, water streams, bridges and climbed to see the waterfalls. Everyone had fun through out and the more adventurous also got drenched under the waterfalls. They visited picturesque selfie points like Tiger’s Leap and enjoyed some spectacular views of mountains and valleys. The ladies proved equal to the men, by braving all the difficulties while maintaining a good pace, with some even leading from the front. The weather was excellent and cool with a short drizzle for about 15 minutes. The trek ended at 1315 hrs and thereafter the team had a merry time with beer followed by a Maharastrian lunch. They commenced the return trip at 1505 hrs and reached home by 1830 hrs.

Adventure Pulse, the organisers, planned and executed the events with military precision and timing, which was much appreciated. The personal touch and patience of each of their team members specially for those trailing was very reassuring to the veterans. All participants thoroughly enjoyed the outing, bonhomie, camaraderie and will carry fond memories for lifetime. Having rekindled the spirit of adventure we are ready for the next venture. Sharing glimpses of the trek.
