With profound grief and heavy heart, regret to inform sad demise of veteran Cdr BS Pillai (86033B), 76 yrs, who breathed his last, at 0700 hrs on 04 Jul 25 in AIMS Hospital Kochi, after a prolonged illness, leaving behind many to mourn his transit to higher realms.
The officer had a glorious career in the Air Engineering branch of Indian Navy. Cdr BS Pillai, VSM joined the Indian Navy in 1969, beginning his career in Naval Aviation Aircraft Engineering. He served with INAS 310 and 300 squadrons, managed Alize and Seahawk aircraft, and was later sent to Russia for the induction of IL 38 and, subsequently, TU 142 aircraft. Commissioned as Air Engineer Officer in 1979, he contributed significantly at BMF Goa, was an instructor at NIAT, and played a crucial role in setting up maintenance for new aircraft at Goa and INS Rajali. For his distinguished service, he received VSM.
After retiring in 2004, he joined HAL Helicopter Division, providing ALH operational support at INS Garuda until 2008.
We offer our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to his wife, Mrs P Sobhana and the grieving family members. We pray that they bear the irreplaceable loss with courage and fortitude.
The Mortal remains has been shifted to the Mortuary, AIMS and would be brought to his residence by 1400 hrs tomorrow 05 Jul 25 It would then be taken to his native place near Haripad for the final rites’ early morning of 06 Jul 25.
