1.  With profound grief and heavy heart, we regret to inform sad demise of Senior Naval Veteran and nanogenarian Cdr Claude Almeida PNE 007, 95 years old born on 10 September 1930. He was residing at 64, St Patrick’s town Solapur road and passed away peacefully at home on 15 Sep 2025, leaving behind many to mourn his transit to higher realms.

2. Cdr Claude Almeida joined the Royal Indian Navy in March 1949 and did his Ab Initio Training at Dartmouth with the Royal Navy in U.K. He specialised in Navigation and Direction from HMS Dryad in UK in the year 1955. He served onboard the first INS Vikrant. Subsequently he had done sea appointments on board old INS Kuthar as Executive officer and went on to command the old INS Ranjit. He also had a long tenure as DS at Staff College in early 70s. He was also a very keen angler and golfer

3. On behalf of President and all the members of NFPC we offer our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to his wife Mrs Nell Almeida, the children and the grieving family members. We pray that they bear the irreplaceable loss with courage and fortitude.

4. The funeral mass was held at St Patrick’s cathedral on 17 Sep and was buried at Sepulchre Cemetery.
