1. With profound grief and sorrow, we deeply regret to inform passing away of Vice Admiral Inderjit Bedi, PVSM, AVSM (00327-T) at 0320h on Thursday, 9th October 2025, peacefully at Max Hospital, Patpargunj, New Delhi. He was 87 years of age.
2. Vice Admiral Inderjit Bedi (00327-T), ex-11th Course JSW was commissioned into the Executive Branch of the Indian Navy on 1st July 1958. After initial courses he specialised in Communication and Electronic Warfare.
3. During his illustrious career spanning over 38 years he held several important Afloat and Ashore appointments details of which are as follows: –
(a) Afloat Appointments:-
(i) Executive Officer, INS Sharda.
(ii) INS Kirpan for Watchkeeping duties.
(iii) INS Trishul as Signal Communication Officer (SCO).
(iv) INS Vikrant as SCO.
(v) INS Mysore as Fleet Communication Officer, Western Fleet.
(vi) Commanding Officer, INS Udaygiri.
(vii) Commanding Officer, INS Godavari.
(viii)Finally, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet.
(b)Ashore Appointments:-
(i) After specialising as SCO, he served in Signal School, NHQ, other Shore Establishments.
(ii) After qualifying Defence Services Staff Course with Directing Staff (DS) grading, he was appointed as DS at DSSC, Wellington.
(iii) On promotion to the rank of Captain, he was deputed to the USA for Naval War College.
(iv) Later he was appointed as the Chief Instructor (Navy) at DSSC, Wellington.
(v) At Naval Headquarters he held two important appointments as Director Naval Signals and Director of Personnel.
(vi) On being elevated to Flag Rank, he was appointed as Assistant Controller of Warship Production & Acquisition at NHQ.
(vii) On promotion to the rank of Vice Admiral, he was appointed as Fortress Commander Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
(viii) Subsequently, he was appointed as the Commandant, National Defence Academy.
(ix) His brilliant Naval career came to with last appointment as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Southern Naval Command.
4. Funeral and Last Rites of Late Vice Admiral Inderjit Bedi were performed 10th October 2025 at Brar Square Cremation Ground, Delhi Cantonment, New Delhi.
5. We pray to Almighty God to grant eternal Peace to the noble soul of Late Vice Admiral Inderjit Bedi at his final resting place.
6. We convey our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies to all members of the grieving family of Late VAdm Bedi and pray to Almighty God to grant them peace, solace, comfort, strength, courage, fortitude and forbearance to bear pain of irreplaceable loss.
