SGM and C-in-C WNC Interaction with NFPC
VAdm Dinesh Tripathi AVSM NM, the Flag Officer Commanding in Chief, Western Naval Command, interacted with veterans of the Navy Foundation Pune Chapter at the RSAMI Pune on 24 Aug 2023. He thanked the veterans for their contributions, both whilst in uniform and as veterans in service of the Indian Navy, our nation and society. He updated the naval veterans about various ongoing operations, admin and HR activities/ focus areas of the Navy and other initiatives with respect to ex-servicemen affairs. He assured them of the full support of the Navy in resolving all issues related to Sparsh, ECHS and other matters that concerned the veterans. VAdm Ajay Kochhar, AVSM NM, Commandant NDA, Cmde S Supradeepan, LOIC, NAVPEN and Cdr Sravan Sekhar, Cd Welfare Officer also attended the function as guests of honour. The interaction was preceded by a Special General Body Meeting of the NFPC to discuss and ratify the Working Rules of the NFPC. Some photos of the event may be seen here. NFPC AGM & MILAN 2023
The Navy Foundation Pune Chapter organised its Annual General Body Meeting and Milan at the Sanjog Hall, RSI on 30 Apr 2023. Cmde JP Chiplunkar Command Education & Welfare Officer, HQWNC was present on the occasion. The meeting was called to order by the Secretary, Cdr Sudheer Nadgouda and he requested the forum to observe a one-minute silence in memory of all members who had passed during the preceding year. This was followed by the President, Cmde PK Malhotra delivering his Welcome Address. The Budget/Balance Sheet was then presented and approved by the General Body. This was followed by a discussion on the Agenda Points.
The main event of this year’s AGM was the Handing Over of the duties of the Management Committee to a new team comprising Vice Admiral Jaywant Korde as the President, Capt Rajib Bhattacharjee as Vice President & Treasurer and Capt Keshav Tripathi as the Secretary. VAdm Korde, on taking over, thanked each and every one present on behalf of his new team and specially thanked Commodore Malhotra for his contribution for the past 15 years, including 13 years as the President NFPC. The AGM concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Cdr MS Phogat.

Adm JG Nadkarni Memorial Lecture 2022 – 29 Oct 2022
The 3rd Adm JG Nadkarni Memorial Lecture was held at the Central Park Hotel on the 29th of October 2022. VAdm AB Singh PVSM AVSM VSM ADC, the FOC-in-C WNC was the Chief Guest and delivered the Keynote Address on the topic “India & Indian Navy @100 (2047)“. Prior to that, Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (retd), Director CASS delivered the Welcome Address. During his Keynote Address, the C-in-C expounded on the growth of the Indian Navy over the 75 years since Independence. He then attempted to peer into the future and forecast the shape the Indian Navy would take in the year 2047. He dwelt on various geopolitical dynamics in the present-day world order, the technological advancements taking place, especially in the fields of AI, machine learning and robotics and how they would shape the wars of the future. He said that there were several challenges that would face the Indian Navy, but was confident, based on the progress that had been made that it was capable of facing all these challenges. Following the Keynote Address, RAdm Vadgaokar gave the Vote of Thanks and mementoes were presented to the C-in-C and other dignitaries. The C-in-C then with veterans of Navy Foundation Pune Chapter over lunch.

C-in-C WNC Interaction with NFPC Veterans
VAdm AB Singh PVSM AVSM VSM ADC, the FOC-in-C WNC interacted with veterans of Navy Foundation Pune Chapter at the RSAMI Pune on 10 Sep 2022. The C-in-C was accompanied by Mrs Charu Singh. Other officers/invitees who were present on the occasion were VAdm Ajay Kochhar, Commandant NDA, Shri Satish Pendharkar, PCDA (Navy), RAdm Sandeep Mehta, FOMA, RAdm IJS Matharu, CSO (P&A), WNC, Cmde Arvind Rawal, CO INS Shivaji, Cmde Kanchan Mukherjee – Cd Welfare & Education Officer WNC, Cmde Viresh Das, DESA, Cdr Jennis Paul, OIC NTT NDA, Cdr I Sivakumar (NAVPEN). Shri NP Shivatare, Office of PCDA (N) and Smt Pama Johnson,- Accounts Officer, PCDA (N).
The C-in-C presented a cheque of Rs. 2.5 lakhs to the NFPC and promised all support from the WNC to meet the expectations and requirement of the veterans. He also felicitated Cmde Rajan Vir as the Most Outstanding Veteran and Cdr RW Pathak as the Outstanding Veteran of the NFPC. He also informed veterans about the activities of the WNC (including housing projects), support being provided to veterans and Veer Naaris as well as certain topical issues such as the Agniveer scheme and the transition to theatre commands.

NFPC AGM & Milan 2022
The Navy Foundation Pune Chapter organised its Annual General Body Meeting and Milan at the AFMC Mess on 08 May 2022. The event opened with a one minute silence in memory of all members who had passed during the preceding year. This was followed by the AGM itself. Admiral JG Nadkarni Memorial Lecture 2021
After a long hiatus on account of the Covid 19 pandemic, the Navy Foundation Pune Chapter held the second Admiral JG Nadkarni Memorial lecture at the Central Park hotel from 1030 hrs onwards on 03 Oct 2021. The lecture was also simultaneously live-streamed through the Zoom platform for veterans who were unable to attend in person. Following the welcome address by Cmde PK Malhotra (retd), President NFPC, RAdm RJ Nadkarni (retd), son of the late Adm JG Nadkarni paid tribute to his father’s memory and legacy. Thereafter, Air Marshal Bhushan Gokhale (retd), Director CASS spoke of Adm Nadkarni’s contribution to CASS as its co-founder and first Director. The Keynote Address was then delivered by VAdm Pradeep Chauhan (retd) on the topic “Dealing with the Chinese Maritime Challenge in the IOR”, who in his inimitable style threw up some fresh and thought-provoking perspectives on the subject while keeping the audience totally engrossed. On completion of the lecture, mementoes were presented to the various speakers and a Vote of Thanks was delivered by Cmde Ajay Chitnis.

NFPC AGM 2021
Following the Adm JG Nadkarni Memorial Lecture, NFPC members adjourned for lunch and thereafter reassembled for the AGM. The AGM was called to order by Cdr Sudheer Nadgouda, who requested one minute silence in the memory of veterans and Veer Naaris who left for their heavenly abode since the last AGM held on 14 Apr 19. He also welcomed all new (23) members who had joined since then.
The first item on the agenda was the passing of the previous AGM Minutes of Meeting unanimously by the members. The audited balance sheet was then presented by Cdr Mohan Philip, VP & Treasurer to the forum and was also passed without any objection. The President and other Management Committee members were also re-nominated and re-elected unopposed.
In his concluding remarks, the President NFPC thanked each and everyone present on behalf of his team and also for re-electing him for the fifth term consecutively as President. He also thanked both Cdr. Mohan Philip & Cdr. Sudheer Nadgouda for their unstinted support and untiring efforts.
A point was raised by Cmde Ajay Chitnis during the ‘Open House’ when he suggested that NFPC should arrange additional events such as trips abroad etc. The President explained that while this had been tried in the past without any success, he would definitively try and arrange such a trip again.

Interaction with CDA(N) team
The AGM was followed by an interactive session between the NFPC Members and a team deputed by PCDA (Navy), comprising Shri N P Shivatare, IDAS, ACDA (N) and Shri Jajdish Sapkale, Group A officer (N). NFPC was fortunate to be the first Chapter to host the CDA (N) team during their first outstation interactive session on 03 Oct. The session commenced with a short presentation by Shri Sapkale on the new ePPO system that had been initiated for veterans, wherein he also explained the problems that were faced, mainly by pre-2016 retirees, as also the measures that had been put in place by PCDA (Navy) to resolve them. This was followed by an animated interaction with the veterans. The team gave a patient hearing to all veterans and satisfactorily replied to all queries, which was well appreciated by all.
In addition to the CDA (N) team, Cmde S Ramaswamy, LOIC NAVPEN along with Lt Cdr. AS Shekhawat SSO (Pensions); CRSO (West), and a rep from DESA also actively participated in the interaction.
A Vote of Thanks was delivered on completion of the session by Cmde Ajay Chitnis.

Admiral JG Nadkarni Memorial Lecture 2019
Navy Foundation Pune Chapter held the first Admiral JG Nadkarni Memorial lecture to honour the late Adm JG Nadkarni, PVSM, AVSM, NM, VSM, ADC – former CNS and a longtime resident of Pune and member of NFPC – at the Central Park hotel on 26 May 2019.
The Chief Guest was Cmde Rakesh Anand (retd), CMD MDL. The Keynote Address was delivered by Adm Arun Prakash (retd), former CNS. The welcome address was delivered by Cmde Ajay Chitnis (retd). Thereafter RAdm RJ Nadkarni, COS SNC and son of the late Adm JG Nadkarni made a short presentation on his father’s illustrious career and shared his memories. Adm Arun Prakash then delivered a most enlightening and interesting talk on ‘India’s Response to the Challenge of Traditional and Non-Traditional Maritime Threats.’
Following the lecture, mementoes were presented. Thereafter Adm Arun Prakash and Cmde Anand interacted with NFPC Members over dinner.

NFPC AGM 2019
Navy Foundation Pune Chapter organised their Annual General Meeting and Lunch at the AFMC Mess on 14 April 2019. VAdm Ajit Kumar PVSM AVSM VSM ADC, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command, along with President NWWA (WR), attended the AGM lunch. This was his first interaction as the President Regional Governing Council (West) with veterans of the NFPC. The C-in-C assured the veterans of all possible support from the Command. He also presented a cheque of Rs 2 lakhs to NFPC in support of the future activities of the Foundation.

NFPC Visit to INS Shivaji -Navy Week 2018
As part of Navy Week activities, veteran naval officers of Navy Foundation Pune Charter visited INS Shivaji on 15 December 2018. A total of 98 veterans including family members interacted with serving personnel of the Station during the visit. The veterans paid homage to Martyrs of 1971 war at the War Memorial. The later visited various facilities in station such as the Naval Engineering Museum, Motivation Hall, Damage Control & Fire Fighting simulators. The event also marked the release of 5,000 ‘Mahasheer’, an endangered variety of fish, into Shivsagar lake. Station Commander, Lonavla and President NWWA, Lonavla also interacted with the guests.

Interaction with FOC-in-C WNC – 2017
Vice Admiral Girish Luthra, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief Western Naval Command hosted a lunch at the AFMC Mess on 11 Jun 2017, where he interacted with veterans from the Navy Foundation Pune Chapter. A maiden initiative of its kind, the event witnessed an enthusiastic response with over 160 guests in attendance. The CinC, during his address, informed the veterans about the latest developments and initiatives in the Navy in general and the Western Naval Command in particular. Recognising the contribution of the veterans, he stressed the importance of the veteran community acting as a strong bridge and interface with the citizens of the country to create greater awareness of the Armed Forces in general and the Indian Navy in particular.
